UK Refugee Week commences tomorrow and encompasses the United Nation’s World Refugee Day on Tuesday. Some of our team turn their concern into action by supporting the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) with carrying out social visits to people held in detention at Harmondsworth and Colnbrook. We would encourage you to find some quiet time this week to read up on the issue of refugees in today’s world, and to become more informed. Our Lord and King, Jesus, is our role model when it comes to defending, and speaking up for, the weakest and most vulnerable in our society. We can do this more effectively if we inform ourselves of the real issues behind the headlines. Let’s not remain silent when we see the weakest of our sisters and brothers being further victimised in our society.

We had our monthly SVP meeting on Monday evening and it was a bumper agenda again! We are busy on a number of fronts but, having grown the team to 20 members now, we are in a good place to be able to share the load. Need is all around us though, so there is always a load to share, if you would like to help us!
Being busy can be good but it also risks us missing the obvious, right in front of us. This is true in all walks of life. Can you please be our eyes and ears and if there is an obvious need that the team are missing, or are just too busy and distracted to notice, then can you please contact us and let us know. More importantly, if you, yourself, are in need of some help, then please reach out to any of the team and you can be assured that we will try our very best to help you.

The B-Attitudes would like to say a sincere thank you to all who made last weekend’s cake sale such a success! Everything was sold out by the noon mass and the funds raised on behalf of Mary’s Meals and Christmas gifts for the residents of Brackenbridge House will be gratefully received.
This weekend, the SVP’s Gifted shop is open so please have a look at our stock of religious items and let us know if you need something in particular. Another date for your calendar is Wednesday 7th June, when the Bereavement Support Group will meet in the hall after 10am mass. Please come along if you just want someone to talk with, and if you fancy a cup of tea!!

We hope you enjoy the cake sale this weekend, organised by our B-Attitudes (i.e. young SVP) team! Thank you in advance for your support, and the B-Attitudes will be using all the proceeds for Mary’s Meals and for Christmas gifts for the residents of our local care home, Brackenbridge House.
Next weekend, our religious items shop, Gifted, will be open after the weekend masses so have a think during the week if there is anything in particular you need from it. If we don’t stock it then just let us know and we’ll get it for you.

Just a reminder of the upcoming cake sale being arranged by our parish B-Attitudes Team (i.e., young SVP)!
Next weekend, they are holding a cake sale after all masses to raise funds on behalf of Mary’s Meals and also to provide Christmas gifts to the residents of our local care home, Brackenbridge House. For just £20, Mary’s Meals can provide a meal to a child in Africa every school day for a whole year. If you would like to bake for the cake sale then please just phone our number below or, alternatively, if you could support the cake sale by making it a sell-out then that would be great too!
